Background
As I look back at almost a decade working in education, I’ve found how this has shaped me to be the person I am today. I grew up in the Northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and had the privilege to attend Glenbrook North High School. This is an excellent school with high academic expectations for all students. I was able to move toward fulfilling these expectations as I progressed through my undergraduate program by obtaining my Bachelor’s of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology. Paralleling this academic achievement was employment as a computer technician, focusing primarily on Mac OS X networking support.
In the summer of 2007, I had the opportunity to transition to a role in overseeing the IT infrastructure at Northbrook / Glenview School District 30, a K-8 district. I saw my role grow from maintaining systems to planning, deploying and supporting these same systems. With this expanded role in technology, I felt a need to better understand how aspect of my job impacted the instructional components of a school. During this time, I embarked upon the graduate school journey. Selecting an MBA program with a concentration in K-12 administration, I was able to obtain skills to not only useful in the planning and visioning aspect of technology, but also in providing a foundation in curriculum, evaluation, school law, supervision, and societal impacts of education. I completed my program, with distinction, in December of 2009. I currently hold two IL Type 75 Certifications; General Administrative and Chief School Business Official.
To balance work and leisure I enjoy time away from all the wonders of technology. I often work to explore wooded bike trails in the Northern Illinois area, enjoy the chilly-rush of playing hockey, and the serenity of the outdoors camping or on the water.
